Socorro Public Library - Election Information
Socorro's Primary Election Deadlines:
Register to vote by May 6th
Request absentee ballot prior to May 30th
First absentee ballots mailed out: May 6th
Early (in person) paper ballot voting begins: May 6th at the court house
Early (in person) machine voting begins: May 12th at the court house
Early (in person) machine voting begins: May 17th at alternate sites
Last day for early voting: May 31st
Primary Election Day: June 3rd
Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The County Clerk shall accept completed official mailing envelopes containing absentee ballots until 7:00 PM.
New Mexico's General Election: November 4th
Last filing day for independent candidates is June 4th.
Voter registration re-opens on June 9th.
Last filing day for minority party candidates is June 24th.
Last filing day for write-in candidates is September 2nd.
Last day to register to vote in general election is October 7th.
Note: Republican and Democrat candidates for county, state and congressional public office will be on the ballot (see below). In the primary for the office of President of the United States only the Republicans will be voting in this primary election, as the Democrats already caucused for delegates in February.
